BVSc, full form Bachelor of Veterinary Science, is an undergraduate course of 5
years in the field of veterinary science that aims to impart the knowledge
required for nourishment, treatment, and breeding of animals.
There are 47 BVSC colleges in India which include Indian Veterinary Research
Institute, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, West Bengal University of
Animal and Fishery Sciences, CSKHPKV, etc.
BVSc course is ideal for candidates who consider themselves as animal lovers
and want to work or own an animal breeding and caring firm and want to
establish a career in animal husbandry. AIPVT was replaced by NEET in 2017 for
admission to veterinary pharmacy courses and veterinary medicine courses in
India.
Any candidate who has completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and
Biology as compulsory subjects, along with English from a recognized board is
eligible to apply for BVSc Admission. BVSc syllabus covers everything from
animal anatomy and physiology to treatment and surgery of animals. The
major BVSc subjects are animal nutrition, animal breeding, and genetics, animal
pathology, among others.
After BVSc, ample job opportunities are available in Agriculture Sectors,
Government Animal, Defence Dog training centres, Zoological Parks, Aviaries,
Wildlife Sanctuaries, etc., with an average starting salary of INR 3.6 LPA.
